Why are capes so awesome?

And why are they so hard to get? Are they reserved for people who prove themselves awesome enough to deserve a cape? Who is it that decides when a person is awesome enough to get a cape? Can you get a cape by being put in a position of power? Then why doesn’t every national leader have a cape? Why isn’t there a Presidential Cape that is handed down from US President to President? Why isn’t there a Royal Cape that the King or Queen of the UK gets to wear? Why isn’t there a Cape of the Maple Leaf for the Canadian Prime Minister? Can I have a cape?
